Eldress Phyllis Williams is the youngest daughter of Ernest and the late Minister Dorothy Chapman. A native of Maysville N.C., she grew up actively engaged in the church, as her family was involved in church leadership. At an early age, she realized the power of prayer, evangelism, and mission work, as she traveled with her mother and relatives in the "Noon Day Prayer Band."
Receiving the call to the gospel ministry, Eldress Williams preached her initial sermon in August 1994 at First Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. One of the many spiritual children of the late Reverend R.J. and Eldress Alene Avery. She has always been actively involved with the work of ministry at "First P" and everywhere she has gone since then, serving in a variety of different roles but always with gladness and excellence. She has taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and Bible Study. Eldress Williams has sung with choirs and even a quartet group, leading worship, exhorting, encouraging, and preaching the Word. It was at First Pentecostal that she was ordained under the Assistant to the Bishop Pastor Walter E. Cook.
Since then, she has exercised her gifts in many different areas, both within and outside the four walls of the church. She has ministered at numerous Women's Conferences and beside her husband, Dr. Stanley A. Williams Jr. at Averys Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Raeford, N.C. and St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church in LaGrange, N.C. She is humbled to serve as the First Lady of Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Godwin, N.C., "Where God Wins," and she serves as an Associate Minister.
She is actively involved in the Cape Fear B Conference of the United American Free Will Baptist Denomination and has been the Recording Secretary for the Young Peoples Christian League for several years. She serves as Chaplain for the Women's Ministry at Spring Hill FWB Church.
Eldress Williams loves God, God's people, prayer, and the Word of God. She has attended the Raleigh School of Data Processing in Raleigh, N.C. and in 2018 earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Carolina College of Biblical Studies in Fayetteville, N.C. from where she also received an Associates Degree in Biblical Studies.
Eldress Williams has been married to Dr. Stanley A. Williams Jr. for more than 40 years and is the mother of three; Stanley III, Philip-Jamal, and Yashica Sade. She has one grandson Nakari Cue, and many people that consider her a spiritual mother. In her words, "Christ is all, and all is Christ." She believes that only what we do for Christ will last, and for this reason, she seeks to win souls to Christ and make disciples for the Kingdom.
